“Conversations 2” – Carol McCrae
We believe we are all children of God and therefore, we are family to one another.  In our “Conversations” small groups last fall, we acknowledged that even though we may disagree on different topics, it is more important for us to seek understanding and reconciliation than rightness.  As a church we can strive to stand in love with those with whom we disagree.
As in every family, there are subjects that may feel sensitive and challenging to discuss.  For United Methodists, one such topic is sexuality.
The United Methodist Church officially holds that the practice of homosexuality is incompatible with Christian teaching.  Many within the UMC believe this teaching is faithful to the Bible and to Christian tradition. Many others in the UMC believe the official approach is Biblically incorrect and contrary to the love of neighbor.  Although there are major differences of opinions, our common bond is a love for the church and a deep commitment to the Christian gospel.

The goal of “Conversations 2” is to learn and understand. In small groups we will explore the topic of human sexuality as we:
·       wrestle with our scriptural understanding of God’s will
·       examine United Methodist’s current policies and proposed changes
·       learn from one another

Conversations 2: On “Hold”
As many of you may have already learned: General Conference, originally scheduled for May 2020, has been postponed. Due to the outbreak of Covid-19, large gatherings like GC are affected. The consideration of legislation and discussion will be delayed as a result. For several weeks, Marble was planning small group studies to further our understanding of the legislation in question and its impact on the United Methodist Church. Since General Conference has been postponed, we find it necessary to put our “Conversations 2” small groups ON HOLD. When the time comes, Marble will be ready to continue the conversation; we will be ready to discuss the “how” and “why” of the legislation that led us here. Thank you to everyone who had signed up to participate in our small groups. Thank you to Carol McCrae for her preparation and willingness to serve.

Sunday morning adult classes and studies
There are two adult Christian education classes every sunday at 9:00am

-Room #19 is currently reading "Searching for Sunday" by Rachel Held Evans.  Books are available at the church.
"Like millions of her millennial peers, Rachel Held Evans didn't want to go to church anymore.  Yet, despite her cynicism and misgivings, something kept drawing her back to Church. And so she set out on a journey to understand Church and to find her place in it.  Centered around seven sacraments, Evans' quest takes readers through a liturgical year with stories about baptism, communion, confirmation, confession, marriage, vocation, and death that are funny, heartbreaking, and sharply honest.  A memoir about making do and taking risks, about the messiness of community and the power of grace, Searching for Sunday is about overcoming cynicism to find hope."

-Room #25 is currently working through the Gospel of John.
"
The Gospel of John is unique in both its voice and message compared to the the three synaptic Gospels. In John the message of Jesus takes precedence over the chronology of His life, and that's why so many of the most memorable passages in the whole New Testament come from here. In this class we're exploring God's message from multiple perspectives and translations to better comprehend the intent beyond the interpretation. Our translation resources span from King James to the First Nations, hearing God's voice as spoken to Christ-following folk from many ages and traditions."

Choir
Choir meets on Sunday's in the choir room after worship.  There is always room for more singers and we can get you caught up in the music we are currently working on.  Come make joyful noise with us!

Men's Morning Study
This is an unstructured study, however it is purely based on God's word.  This group meets every Wednesday morning at 7am in room #25.  They choose a different book or passage in the bible to study and discuss each week.
